Chia calcium drink

chia calcium drink

Drink that hydrates, tastes nice, and have a lot of nutrients? Yup! That's the one! I introduce Chia calcium drink full of vitamin C and more.

The high content of calcium is thanks to the chia seeds and blackstrap molasses.

Chia seeds, loaded with antioxidants, full of fiber provide with the calcium and loads of omega 3 and vitamin K and give the drink this funky look and texture. They are a miracle food and a great addition to drinks, oatmeal, or chia pudding!

Blackstrap molasses is a byproduct of sugar cane’s refining process. Very low in sugar, but very high in nutrients. 100 g of the one I am using is providing with 62.5% DV of calcium and 100% DV of Iron (and more) so you see why it's a great thing to add do your diet. It has a very specific flavor.

Makes: 2-4 servings                 Time: 5 min (+ 10 min wait)

Ingredients:

1.125 L (4½ cup) water
20 g (2 Tbsp) chia seeds
15 ml (1 Tbsp) blackstrap molasses
12 big basil leaves
90 ml (6 Tbsp) freshly squeezed lemon juice (or more)

6-10 ice cubes (or more)

Instructions:

1. Into the glass bottle pour the water, tear the basil into smaller pieces, and add to the water with the rest of the ingredients.

2. Close the bottle and shake it very well (or mix in any other possible way), until the molasses dissolves.

3. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes so the chia seeds soak up some water and enjoy! Feel free to add more lemon juice, molasses, or/and ice-cubes. Make sure you mix before pouring into the glass as the chia seeds, once soaked up the water, they will settle on the bottom of the bottle.

Notes and tips:

1. You can add some maple syrup to make it sweeter.
